COMPASSION DAY 2008!

RhemaFMlive changing lives through Compassion Day 2008

Hundreds of children throughout the developing world will face a brighter future because of the combined efforts of Christian radio stations and television throughout the country. Compassion Day 2008 hopes for a record number of Christian broadcasters participating, with hundreds of listeners across Australia responding to the call to combat extreme poverty through Compassion child sponsorship. RhemaFMlive will be one of these stations, with 16 hours of dedicated live broadcasting by our dedicated team of volunteer announcers. Beginning at 6am and continuing through to 10pm, the team will give news, statistics and stories to tug on the heart strings, and, with all other commercial programming suspended for the day solely promoted Compassions child sponsorship program.

Movie screening a great success

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the 104.9 Rhema FM Live movie night a resounding success!
"End of the Spear told the true story of 5 missionaries who went into the Ecuadorian jungle in 1956 to reach out to the Waodani people and were tragically murdered by the tribe. The wives of the missionaries who were killed stayed and lived among the Waodani tribe, even caring for them through a polio outbreak. These women showed tremendous courage and faith, and the love shown to the tribe who had murdered their husbands broke through the pay-back culture that had seen 1 our of every 2 tribe members killed before reaching adulthood. Their sacrifice galvanized a whole generation of missionaries who headed to foreign fields with the slain Elliot's words on their lips, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."

We have a number of great program ideas and slots for which we are looking for new presenters including:
Two drive time shows (Tues and Friday 5-6pm);
Two breakie shows (Tues and Thurs 6-8am);
A presenter for our country breaks (1-2pm Mon Wed and Fri);
Saturday Siesta (2-5pm);
and a program of testimonies on healing and God’s work in the lives of local people.

104.9 is preparing materials for a new program to be aired from June or July. The concept of this program, which will be locally produced is to create a PUBLIC WITNESS STAND where local believers can give testimony of what God has and is doing in their lives.

What's Up On-Air?

We are delighted to welcome a new announcer to our morning line up—Deanne or D as her listeners will know her, now captains our Morning Cruise from 8-10am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Deanne is mother of two, talented muso and is an indispensable member of the 104.9 team. Working together with Belinda on music selection and scheduling Deanne ensures 104.9 is playing the best Christian music . Her open, honest down to earth style is refreshing and friendly so if you haven't heard her yet Tune into 104.9 8-10am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Unfortunately due to Family and study commitments Ben Ramsey host of Life Q&A has left us but hopes to return in the future, so we are looking for a new host of this show or a similar show. We thank Ben for all the time he gave to 104.9 and wish him well.

Precepts from Kay Arthur has been very well received by Listeners. Now we are delighted to bring various longer Messages from Kay Arthur—subjects will include talks on Genesis 2 and Abraham, friend of God. These will be aired in series of various parts at 3pm on Mondays commencing from the beginning of June.
