Lorraine Frost: Music Loading
I have recently moved to Mount Gambier, having lived off the land and sea since marrying my husbhand Mort. We have two married children and 5 beautiful grandchildren.
I retired from the workforce at the end of April 2005 after working most of my time in the clerical fields, firstly with a law firm, then with the local performing arts office and the last 16 years as a medical secretary with a local orthopaedic clinic.
I have been a member of Rhema almost since the beginning, having been encouraged by John & Fionna Flett to join. It was really exciting to have a Christian radio station to listen to, although the reception in Glencoe was a bit scratchy!! Oh, how things have changed and developed over the years.
I had often thought over the years that I would like to be involved somehow with Rhema but had to be patient and wait for the right timing. Psalm 37 v 7 "Be still in the presence of the Lord and wait patiently for him to act." And act He did. After retiring and not having my fingers pounding the keyboard as they had been used to, was a bit hard to handle. I saw the plea for help in Rhema Heartbeat in December last year for someone to help with data entry of new music and felt my heart almost pounding out of my chest. I guess I had waited patiently enough and God was providing a place for me at the very place where two of my passions could come together, music/radio and keyboarding. As they say, the rest is history. I have been here almost twelve months now and I just love the people I work with. God is so..... good - all the time.
Hobbies: include music, my piano, cooking and 'clucking' over my grandchildren.
My idea of pure indulgence: I think would be sitting or lounging (that is just in case I drop off to sleep) in a nice comfy chair with a biography to read. I've just finished reading Paul Noble's life story. I find biographies encouraging and inspiring reading.
What I do on Days off: I'm yet to find that out, but I think I'm getting closer to
finding out. 2 Chronicles Ch 30 v 8 "Do not be stubborn, as they were, but submit
yourselves to the Lord." I'm trying to do this more so that God might have His way in
my life.
Deanne Turner: 104.9 Music Director
Why Did I Volunteer At Rhema?
1. Firstly, I came into the OnTrack Bookshop to do some hours of voluntary work in 2005 to gain some experience in customer service and retail. What I found was a group of loving, caring, godly friends and I have stayed on.
2. During this time I have developed my skills in the retail area but have also had the opportunity the grow in other areas, including keeping up to date with the new artists and their music, through internet and radio resources. This has also included downloading information and music and incorporating this into the Rhema programming. I have also had the opportunity of interviewing new and upcoming artists locally and interstate. It really is very interesting working in radio.
3. Now I have progressed into the announcer’s seat and music director. God is so awesome.
Why Rhema?
Because I love the fact that God has given this community a Christian radio station and I would like to be a part of this outreach. Plus I just love music.
About Me: I am a single mum with two teenage children. I attend the local AOG Church. I am involved with the music ministry at the Church.
Hobbies: include playing my guitar, going to the movies, enjoying the outdoors (especially with my children)
My idea of pure indulgence: I love to go for coffees with friends and chat, I like playing my Playstation and annoying the kids!!!!!! (not really)
My show : Is called ‘Morning Mix-Up’ with Dee. You can tune in from 8.00 am – 10.00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays to listen to the ‘mix-up’. It consists of contemporary and modern tracks with the occasional (definitely NOT country!!!) classic. Just joking. It also includes snippets of funny and light-hearted stories along with local events. There are occasional guests that join me and whatever else I might include in the ‘mix-up’.
If you would like to make a request or have any ideas or comments for the show please contact me at the station by emailing music@rhemafmlive.com.au
