NEW AUDIENCE RESEARCH RESULT POSITIVE ABOUT CHRISTIAN RADIO!
More than 3.1million Australians listen to Christian radio in any given month, according to the 2008 Community Radio National Listenership Survey by McNair Ingenuity.

The Christian Radio extract of the McNair results shows 3,134,000 people, or 19% of Australians aged15+ tune in to Christian community radio stations each month.

While the majority of people who listen to Christian community stations are Christian themselves (71%), many listeners said they have no religious beliefs (23%).

Most listeners of Christian radio work fulltime (44%), though many also work part-time (20%), and the number of students and retired listeners are almost the same (14% students, 13% retired/pensioners). Only 7% of listeners are occupied with home duties.

Christian radio listeners are spread fairly evenly across all age groups. In an average month 29% of listeners are 40-54 yrs old, 27% are 25-39 yrs, 23% are 15-24 yrs, and 21% are 55+.

Listeners of Christian radio are also at both ends of the income spectrum, with 28% of listeners earning less than $20 000 a year, while 22% have a gross annual income of more than $60 000.

Of the people who listened to Christian community radio in the last seven days 48% had listened in the afternoon compared with 44% at breakfast, 41% during mid-morning, and 38% in the evenings.

The most popular reason given for listening to Christian radio was for the music (57%), but most people who tune in to Christian stations also do so for the local information and news (53%), and to hear something they don't hear anywhere else (44%). For more info click here.
