McNAIR AUDIENCE RESEARCH RESULTS LAUNCHED
New audience listenership figures released recently show what the sector has suspected for a while - that more people than ever listen to community radio.

The results demonstrate that the number of Australians aged 15+ listening to community radio in an average week is 4,034,000 people in 2006 (25%), up from 3,767,000 people (24%) in 2004. In an average month the number of Australians aged 15+ listening to community radio has risen from 7,054,000 people (45%) in 2004 to 7,515,000 people (47%) in 2006 - an increase of 7% in the total number of people listening.

Conducted by McNair Ingenuity Research and launched by the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator the Honourable Helen Coonan on August 25, the results highlight continued growth in community radio's national audience reach.
