Commercials in denial about Community Radio audience

Over 9.5 million Australians listen to community radio every month.  Over 4.5 million are regular weekly listeners. But commercial broadcasters seem to want to pretend this significant audience doesn’t exist...MORE/

More People Listening To Community Radio Than Ever Before

More people are tuning into community radio stations like 104.9 RhemaFMlive for the local content and specialised music programs they offer.

The 2008 Community Radio National Listener Survey was released last month and has revealed a loyal following of Australians who tune into their local community radio station each month.

The survey found 57 per cent of Australians aged 15 years and above listen to community radio each month, an increase of 10 per cent in the last two years.

In the South East around 7920 people are listening to our community radio stations on a weekly basis. MORE/

The AGM of South East Christian Broadcasters will be held on Tuesday 25 November 2008 at St Martins College Chapel at 7.30 pm. All members , listeners and interested community members are invited and encouraged to attend.

104.9 Calls for NEW NOMINATIONS for our Board.

Want to work in a Dynamic and developing, organisation with passionate  men and women out to extend the kingdom? 

Did you know that 104.9 operates as an association run by membership subscription. These members then elect a governing/management board to work with the CEO, Staff and volunteers to undertake the operations of running our community radio station 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Did you know there are up  to 12 positions on the board and our constitution states that we should fill 8 of these for a quorum with no more than 3 board members from any single church. This radio station belongs to all of us and its mission is simply serving the King and extending his Kingdom by broadcasting the gospel of His love into our district. By design this is an interdenominational organisation and we strongly encourage representation from all churches on our board.

This is an opportunity to serve God and your community. It is an opportunity to be part of the ‘Greater’ Body of Christ. To be part of something Bigger than just one church or even city. We serve up to 10 different centres.  This is an opportunity to grow personally and  to be part of an exciting gospel focused ministry.

Nominations should be submitted prior to the AGM on 24 November. To nominate you must be a financial member of 104.9 and must be nominated by two other financial members.  You must be prepared to take responsibility for one of the portfolio's listed and commit to attending prayer and baord meetings regularly. Board members will be the hardest working volunteers of the organisation. They will also be those  who most enjoy the exciting journey of this ministry as we see God doing my works in changing lives through our broadcasts.

If you wish to nominate or accept a nomination to stand on the 104.9 Board please ensure you have a nonimation form completed with two financial members nominating you and you must complete a Consent form agreeing to stand for nomination. Forward them  to the station prior to the AGM. Please also indicate which Portfolio you are interested in standing for.

We have a number of great program ideas and slots for which we are looking for new presenters including:
Four drive time shows (Tues, Wed, thur and Friday 5-6pm);
Four breakie shows (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fridays 6-9am);
A presenter for our country breaks (1-2pm Mon Wed and Fri);
Saturday Siesta (2-5pm);

A youth program - Friday evenings

BE MY WITNESSES

104.9 is preparing materials for a new program to be aired from October. The concept of this program, which will be locally produced is to create a PUBLIC WITNESS STAND where local believers can give testimony of what God has and is doing in their lives.
